The brief
Lumen was opening an exhibition about the stars you can no longer see from the city. They wanted visitors to keep exploring at home, long after the visit.
The approach
We mapped real star data into a sky you can drag, zoom and wipe clean of light pollution. Every constellation unlocks a short story recorded by the observatory's astronomers, and the whole sky runs smoothly in the browser without a download.
The result
A microsite that school groups now use as homework, and a dark-sky campaign that started in the browser and ended up on the city council's agenda.
